LUCY BARTER NEEDLEWORK LIBRARY

We strive to build a Library that holds a comprehensive selection of needle arts books; from historical to contemporary, diverse and culturally important subject matters and techniques, as well as out of print to the latest publications. All so our students and community can immerse themselves in the study of needlework.

The San Francisco School of Needlework and Design maintains a comprehensive Library of needlework books which cover stitching and embroidery topics and techniques, cultural histories and experimentation, as well as fashion and couture. Currently, we have over 4,000 titles which are available for research, inspiration, and for student use. Additionally, we have an antiquarian collection covering embroidery, sewing, ephemera, and other needlework techniques.

The Library is currently accessible to the public through Libib. Donation evaluation, care, and upkeep are the responsibility of the Library Committee and are funded by Annual Campaign Donors.

DONATING TO THE LUCY BARTER NEEDLEWORK LIBRARY

While the Library Committee reviews potential book donations on an ongoing basis, we are currently not accepting new donations. Check back with us in 2024!
